Blue Fluted Mega - where past and present meet Presented by CRETIN - Orfèvre since 1850
ROYAL COPENHAGEN BY APPOINTMENT TO HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN OF DENMARK
Today's Porcelain - since 1775 Royal Copenhagen is one of the oldest porcelain houses in Europe. Founded on the initiative of the Danish Royal House in the 18th century. This was the Golden Age of European porcelain, when royal families vied with each other to have beautiful objects made in what was at that time an astoundingly expensive and much sought-after material then known as " white gold ". A perfect example is the Flora Danica dinner service which the King of Denmark had made at the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory to be presented to Catherine the Great of Russia. But the very first service to be produced at the manufactory was the Blue Fluted pattern, which is still hand-painted today at the factory in Copenhagen and still retains its worldwide fame. It is both the proud boast and the distinguishing feature of Royal Copenhagen that the factory keeps the traditional craftsmanship and classic patterns alive while also embracing the changes brought by time. one after another, artists and designers have interpreted their era in porcelain. Thus, Royal Copenhagen porcelain reflects centuries of culture, lifestyles, landscapes, styles and fashions, eating habits, table settings, and political, social and technological developments. As Denmark's oldest design house, Royal Copenhagen spans the range from costly, hand-painted services in traditional patterns and styles to modern Scandinavian designs.
