The 15th Monaco Yacht Show: The Number 1 Worldwide Prestige Yacht Show - September 21-24, 2005 at Port Hercules in Monaco The Monaco Yacht Show has reached the top echelon of super yacht shows throughout the world. Famed for catering to and providing only the very best, the Monaco Yacht Show has the privilege of benefiting from the recognition and the support of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. Luc Pettavino, show organizer, states, “Monaco seems to be an obvious choice for holding a yacht show. It is an exceptional backdrop, which conveys an image of luxury, of exclusivity.” In addition to the magnificent views that Monaco provides, one cannot forget the pleasure of returning to Monte-Carlo to stay in one of the Principality's magnificent hotels, many of which have been renovated.
Information This is the 15th anniversary of the Monaco Yacht Show, the only international yacht show devoted exclusively to luxury yachting, featuring the biggest in-water display in Europe of super and mega yachts in an international showcase of luxury and luxury yachting. Over a four-day period, the Principality of Monaco becomes an epicenter of high level financial transactions and orders. The MYS provides exhibitors with an opportunity to invite their clients to seminars, dinner parties and drinks; either on the yachts they are exhibiting, at their stands or at prestigious venues in Monaco - by invitation only. It is the ideal environment to make new contacts in a festive, friendly context. The MYS brings together all sectors of luxury yachting, including many of the world's leading shipyards, brokers, engine makers, naval architects, designers, tenders, equipment manufacturers, and a growing number of service providers - the full spectrum of the industry related to yachts over 20 meters is well represented. So what is it that makes The Monaco Yacht Show "simply the best in the business?” Luc Pettavino comments, "Year after year, the MYS meets with greater success and recognition. The decision to concentrate on an extremely specific niche, efficient expertise, a varied and outstanding exhibition in the water, unique high-level clientele from the four corners of the globe and the ability to understand the cultures and languages of several different countries, making every individual feel at home here." Additionally, "a buoyant market, the best professionals in international luxury yachting, the constant presence of the organizing team, a well selected media and the breathtaking setting offered by the Principality of Monaco are some of the factors of its success.” Yachts Of course the reason that so many never miss the Monaco Yacht Show is the show’s main attraction, the yachts, and they too are symbols of elegance and stature, with only the best of the best in attendance. This year will feature 93 exquisite yachts (up from 65 yachts 5 years ago) selected from 150 exhibitor requests submitted to the organizers for 2005. From among the 93 exceptional yachts in the water, the MYS gives potential clients a unique opportunity to be among the first to be present for the world previews of 30 to 40 motor and sailing yachts on their world premier launches or being delivered in 2005. This rich display constitutes Europe’s biggest floating superyacht exhibition (yachts from 20 to over 80 meters), of which 60% are between 40 and 50 meters, and 15% are over 50 meters. The MYS has the most prestigious assembly of large vessels on the planet, all presented exclusively by brokers and shipyards. The common denominator that sets these yachts apart is not just their size, but that they are all outstanding in their class, and for the most part one-offs. A selection of twenty or so luxury yacht tenders will be on show at the Monte-Carlo Tender Show on Quai Jarlan. They range from semi-rigid tenders to classic dinghies between 6 and 12 meters in length. Test-drives are possible during the show. Companies 533 leading companies (up from 273 companies only 5 years ago) will be exhibiting this year in Monaco, including 87 shipyards with 14 of the 15 top shipyards in the world (SBI 2005 rankings). There will also be 37 brokers, 46 naval architects and interior designers in the designer gallery, 15 refit and repair shipyards, 202 equipment manufacturers, 74 service providers, 17 luxury brands, 16 tenders, 12 federations and 27 magazines present. All told, exhibitors in attendance will be representing more than 38 nationalities. Equipment manufacturers will exhibit the top-class services and products they design (rugs, crystal, audio and video entertainment systems, etc.), as well as teak decks, jacuzzis, satellite telephone systems, mini-submarines and a wide variety of services related to the yacht industry such as insurance, crew recruitment, etc. The scope is truly staggering and comprehensive, especially given the quality of the exhibitors. International federations will attend in force, mostly with even bigger pavilions this year (England, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, New Zealand etc.). The true testament to the success enjoyed by exhibitors at Monaco is stated clearly in the simple fact that more than 80% of the exhibitors renew their stand spaces in the three months that follow the show. Attendees Attendance has continued to grow at the Monaco Yacht Show, with attendance jumping from 12,000 to 21,000 in the last 5 years, and attendance is expected to grow again this year, however the focus is, and always has been, on quality rather than quantity. The MYS attracts a private clientele with extremely high purchasing power. Attendees range from amateur enthusiasts to wealthy owners and shipping magnates who are often yacht lovers themselves. Many professional visitors come to see the latest technological innovations and to meet the world's leading players and key decision-makers in the field. The organizers of the MYS continue to strive to enhance the quality of the event. Their competitive edge resides in the efficient expertise with which the organizers attract large numbers of carefully targeted visitors. Over 80% of visitors to the show come from outside of Monaco and France. Space The sold stands surface at the Monaco Yacht Show cover has expanded from 3,800 to 8,000 sq. meters in the last 5 years alone. A new, 3,200 sq. meter air-conditioned tent on Darse Sud will accommodate 130 firms - mainly equipment manufacturers and service providers. The air-conditioned tent on Parvis Piscine will expand to cover 2,600 square meters, and will accommodate shipyards, designers, interior decorators and the national pavilions. The floating exhibition is organized inside Port Hercules along 6 quays - from Darse Sud to Jetée via the T Central, Quai Jarlan, Quai des Etas-Unis and the Chicane. The second line of the T Central has been extended by 80 meters, and will be linked by a second pontoon, giving direct pedestrian access. After 7 years of progressively expanding the exhibition site, the MYS has reorganized its overall infrastructure to cater more efficiently to the requirements of exhibitors and visitors alike. The overall surface area has been limited to 14,000 square meters, and the show will be contained within Port Hercules, making it easier to see everything. Setting up and dismantling the exhibition takes over a month. Nearly 300 people contribute to the set up, fitting the stands and ensuring the show runs smoothly. These include 100 hostesses, stewards and drivers, 25 security agents, 30 maintenance officers, 70 stand fitters and 50 service providers. The show has 10,400 sq. meters of floor area, 12,000 sq. meters of carpeting, 12 kilometers of electric cable, 70 tons of ballasting and 1,300 plants. Luxury Other exhibiting companies cover the entire range of related equipment and services for yacht owners; private jet and helicopter aviation, charter companies and financial advisers specialized in yacht financing.
