BMW SUPPLIES 7 SERIES ACTIVE HYBRID COURTESY CARS FOR MONACO YACHT SHOW

BMW is proud to present the most supreme and luxurious rendition of hybrid technology ever seen so far in an automobile: BMW ActiveHybrid 7.

Based on the BMW 7 Series, this unique car sets new standards for efficiency in the luxury class.

BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is the first car in the world to combine a V8 gasoline engine, eight-speed automatic transmission and an electric motor as a mild hybrid concept.

This symbiosis of an upgraded eight-cylinder with BMW Twin Power Turbo Technology and High Precision Injection with a three-phase synchronous electric motor gives the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 overall system output of 342 kW/465 hp and maximum torque of 700 Newton-metres/516 lb-ft. BMW ActiveHybrid 7 accelerates to 100 km/h in a mere 4.9 seconds, while keeping average fuel consumption to 9.4 l/100 km and restricting CO2 emissions to just 219 g/km.

At the show, BMW will also present its pinnacle of automotive manufacturing with BMW Individual, which meets even customers’ most exacting requirements in terms of a highly exclusive appearance. Customers have the possibility to choose from a whole range of options in paintwork, interior leather, trims, and other features to personalise their own BMW.

For example, the BMW Individual paint finish “Citrine Black metallic”, which will be on display at the show changes its appearance, depending on the angle of incident light. This paint finish shows a subtle hint of gold dust on deep black, with many colourful reflections. BMW Individual Merino leather is renowned for its softness and natural surface texture. The fine-grain Merino leather possesses these virtues to an even greater degree, for an even more elegant look and feel. Merino leather is complimented by the select, natural woods used for the interior trims. . Thanks to accomplished workmanship they exude a highly polished glow, rounding off each interior to perfection.

The exhibition car combines the BMW Individual equipment with a variety of interior options by BMW Individual Manufacture, which allows for personalization to the greatest extent to reflect the unique personality of each customer.

Finally, an exclusive design event will take place onboard of the famous CMN Yacht “Cloud 9” on Friday, Sept 24th, 2010 at 06.30 pm. The 60-metre masterpiece is the venue for international media and VIP guests invited by Edmiston, CMN Yachts and BMW. They will give a special experience in luxury, dynamics and aesthetics.

A Design Talk will bring together Andrew Winch, one of the world’s leading designers of sail and motor yachts, Nikolaus Graf von Saurma-Jeltsch, Director of the Munich Studio of BMW Group DesignworksUSA, and the Fashion Designer Guido Maria Kretschmer. The renowned designers will provide insights into designing yachts, automobiles and fashion.

The reception at the Sun Deck of the yacht “Cloud 9” will be accompanied by a salon show of Guido Maria Kretschmer Couture.

Please note this is a private event with entrance on invitations only.
